Thanks to continuous development of electronics, we can avoid traditional lighting powered with 230V, which has a lot of disadvantages compared to low-voltage LED lighting operated at constant currents.
- disturbances and surges often seen with an eye
- lower strength of lamps and their ease of damage from surges
- lower efficiency at the same power supply
- the risk of electric shock, raise in areas with high moisture , outdoor and indoor, saunas, special areas, swimming pools, etc.
- frequency 50Hz tiring the eyes from blinking and flashing (especially when using dimming)
- frequent damage of the lamps at the time of switch on, particularly halogens , fluorescent , efficient lamps, LEDs
- high power consumption and surges at startup
- major disruption of network generated by starters of fluorescent lights
- possibility to “fire” or switch off the fuse protection in such cases
- a long time of warm-up to achieve full light of most light sources
- changes in light levels due to voltage instability, matting bulbs under high temperature, burning of gas in the fluorescent lamps
- change the color of light LED, lighting and fluorescent as a result of variable parameters
Most of these disadvantages can be eliminated by supply constant voltage and current of lamps for lights (low voltage DC power supply) eg. 12V .
This requires resignation from some sources such as fluorescent lamps , Gas etc. Classic lights as bulbs or halogens, it is difficult to use, due to the very high currents needed to obtain the required power light illumination . It also involves the use of substantially thicker wires supplying power to reduce energy loss and voltage drop on wires .
Nowadays, the best kind of lamps suitable for this application are the LEDs in a variety of forms and cases.
The development of LED lighting technology, gives much larger number of solutions comparing to all other types of lamps. This gives oportunity to realize complete lighting in houses, buildings, ofices, hotels using very efficient and durable LEDs, RGB LEDs, which can be controlled directly from eHouse home automation system .
Powering LEDs with constant voltage and direct current eg. 12 volts allows:
- savings in electricity for lighting the building above the 500%
- obtain constant and desired color of light for LEDs
- substantially longer time of live for LEDs
- lack of distortions and bursts of energy at mains frequency 50Hz caused visible peaks of light illumination
- electronic control directly from eHouse system without having to install relays involving high-power devices
- the possibility of usage of emergency power from the battery.
- large number points of light provides an even level of illumination and lot of independent lighting scenes
- implementation of safe and trouble-free lighting in wet locations , outdoors , saunas , pools , etc .
- facilitate assembly , without the use of lighting fixtures and enclosures , waterproof adhesive tape diodes
- quick refund of investment costs for the installation and lighting lamps
LEDs can successfully implement a complete lighting in most of the rooms:
- the main lighting (and decentralized multipoint) instead of the central
- night lights
- Discrete
- ornamental and decorative lighting
- stair lighting, paths, routes, terraces, gates, inputs, emergency exits, halls
- safe lighting pools , trays , saunas , conservatory, aquarium
- Picture Lights , Furniture , cabinets , wardrobes , Ornamental Sites
- sconces
- lamps near the beds
- lighting glasses, tables , work places
- Television Lighting
- lighting lofts , storage
- Accent lighting
The main features of LEDs diode
- point character (a small viewing angle) LED lighting
- low power light in comparison with classic lighting
- requires a large amount of LED light points to obtain a uniform illumination and to achieve the required level of brightness over the entire surface areas
- requires a large number of independent lighting circuits
- wide variety of lighting, color, possibility of adjusting the brightness
To achieve high functionality and ease of use LEDs lighting,
it is necessary to take into account their characteristics, using as the light sources.
- requires controllers or home automation for control a large number of outputs
- it is necessary to create a large number of (multi) different scenes and high-density LED lamps.
- Automation is required in order to simplify control and allows easy and fast reconfiguration scenes, programs, while a home without having to switch cables.
- use of infrared remote control to avoid the large number of switches
- the ability to automatically turn on light scenes such as night lighting , Decorative etc .
- ensure a good power supply, voltage stability and control to enable long-life work without flickering , illumination color changes, etc.
Ehouse system (RoomManager, EthernetRoomManager) are ideal for controlling low voltage LED lighting due to a large number of outputs to control lighting, heating and other home features (max 24 on/off + 3 dimmers).
Lighting scenes, groups and programs can be independently configured using PC computer or switch on /off individually.
These controllers centralize and integrate management all elements of lighting , heating and electrics devices in the room using a IR Sony remote controller.
Usage of eHouse system to manage lighting and heating, allows refund home automation system within 1 year after installation considering electricity consumption and heating energy prices.
Application of low voltage 12V lighting system allows installation without help of a qualified electrician and does not require inspections and formalities relating to the registration of the building. In addition, the use of 12V lighting ensures complete safety for use in areas exposed to moisture or flooding, extreme temperatures , Shock and safe for children.
Home automation controllers is based on microcontroller , which can be managed, inter alia:
- Sony IR remote control (standard SIRC), IR control panels

RoomManager is advanced microprocessor controller optimized for control rooms. The architecture of eHouse home automation system based on RoomManager, is the cheapest available on the market due to the large amount of hardware resources in a single device, against to systems built from “small blocks” with built-in “modems”.
